Breast reduction – Gynecomastia

The most common reasons for surgical correction of male breasts are sagging skin after weight loss and gynecomastia (enlarged breasts).

The first thing to consider are the years.

Children: More than half of male newborns are born with enlarged breasts as a result of maternal estrogen. In general, enlarged breasts recede 2-3 weeks after birth.

Teenagers: Gynecomastia caused by hormonal changes during puberty is relatively common, but most often breasts shrink after 6 months to 2 years.

Adults: 1 in 4 adult men may have this problem. If there is no health problem as a reason, surgical correction can be done.

Also, some medications can cause gynecomastia. These are most often medications used to treat prostate enlargement or cancer and some other diseases. Some of them contain Flutamide, Finasteride (Proscar) and Spironolactone (Aldactone). Also, anabolic steroids, androgens, drugs in the treatment of AIDS, anxiety – such as diazepam, tricyclic antidepressants, antibiotics, ulcer drugs such as Cimetidine, chemotherapy drugs – cytostatic, or drugs for heart disease (Digoxin and CA blockers). Certainly, medication-induced gynecomastia will be treated with a non-surgical method, correcting the therapy.

MALE BREAST REDUCTION BY LIPOSUCTION

Male breast reduction surgery is the surgical correction of overemphasized or enlarged breasts in men, a condition called gynecomastia. Overdeveloped or enlarged breasts in men are found at all ages. This can be the result of hormonal changes, genetic predisposition, disease, or the use of certain medications. Gynecomastia can cause emotional discomfort and impair self-confidence in some men. Some men even avoid certain physical activities and physical intimacy out of shame and hide their condition.

If there is excessive growth of the breast glands, partial removal of the glands should be done. CLASSICAL MALE BREAST REDUCTION

Adolescents have the benefits of surgical correction, although secondary correction may be necessary in the future if the breasts continue to grow.

Healthy body and normal weight;

Realistic expectations;

Developed breasts that have stopped growing;

Feeling uncomfortable with big breasts.

BEST CANDIDATES FOR THE CLASSICAL METHOD OF MALE BREAST REDUCTION

The classic method of male breast reduction is the method of choice in men with gynecomastia, which cannot be corrected equally successfully by alternative methods – in that sense by liposuction.

Candidates for Gynecomastia correction must be:

Healthy or life-threatening diseases;

Non-smokers;

Motivated to intervene.

Male breast reduction surgery is best performed on men with gynecomastia that cannot be corrected with alternative medical treatments.
