Abdominoplasty is a very often sought-after surgical procedure that solves the problem of stretched abdominal muscles, sagging skin and fat after weight loss or after pregnancy. This effective and safe surgical procedure results in tight abdominal muscles, tight skin, sculpted abdominal wall and a thinner waist.
OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES
Total abdominoplasty involves an incision at the level of the lower abdomen, hidden in the bikini area, just above the pubic region. By strengthening the abdominal muscles, Dr. Aleksandra Božović – Čelebić creates a taut abdominal wall with special sutures. Excess skin is then removed to give a tight, flat stomach. Dr. Božović – Čelebić achieves the final goal when she manages to emphasize the abdominal muscles with specially placed sutures in order to get a sculpted abdominal wall. That is the goal of this aesthetic procedure.
Partial or mini abdominoplasty involves a smaller incision and less tissue detachment. It is ideal for patients who have moderate excess skin just below the navel and do not have diastase (muscle separation).
Abdominoplasty can be combined with other aesthetic procedures. This refers to breast corrections, such as enlargement, lifting, tightening, reduction, or a combination of breast augmentation and tightening. Liposuction is also a procedure that is often done at the same time. Some patients will require that liposuction adipose tissue be used to volume other parts of the body and face. Whatever your wishes are, you can discuss them with Dr. Aleksandra and she will tell you which combination of procedures is right for you.
Before you come for to the consultation, you should also know this:
Abdominoplasty is not an alternative to regulating body weight and healthy lifestyle.
Ideal candidates have a stable body weight and no more than within 8 kg of the ideal. If you lose more than 8-10 kg after surgery, a certain excess of skin may appear again.
Pregnancy immediately before or after the surgical procedure are not recommended.
PARTIAL VS TOTAL ABDOMINOPLASTY
Partial abdominoplasty: The incision is shorter, extending just above and along the pubic bone. The navel is rarely repositioned and without scar.
Total abdominoplasty: It has a longer incision that extends between the upper points of the pelvic bones. This procedure requires repositioning of the navel.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE?
During our initial consultation, we will determine whether you are a suitable candidate for abdominoplasty. Dr Božović – Čelebić can perform this procedure in combination with liposuction for a more ideal shape, or with breast correction, which means Mommy Makeover. If you are in good physical and mental health and have realistic expectations you should be a good candidate.
Abdominoplasty cannot serve as a substitute for weight regulation, but it is a solution for removing excess skin, fat and tightening relaxed abdominal muscles. In some cases of extreme weight loss, abdominoplasty is a medically necessary procedure to restore the patient’s normal body contours and improve quality of life. After abdominoplasty, we advise our patients at the A medic clinic to lead an active and healthy lifestyle to maintain long-lasting results.
RECOVERY AFTER ABDOMINOPLASTY
After abdominoplasty, two drains are usually placed positioned below the incision line so that the fluid that accompanies healing does not remain in the wound during the first week. Minor interventions can be completed without drains. It is necessary to wear a compression belt for the abdomen for 4-6 weeks after the operation. Most patients can return to work after two weeks.
